JL Joiners & Shopfitters is a collective of highly skilled and certified professionals — from joiners, cabinet makers and wood machinists to steel fabricators, furniture makers, and spray painters. With over 17 years of experience in the construction and interiors industry, our team delivers exceptional work across the retail, hospitality, residential, and commercial sectors.
We specialise in projects of all scales — from large-scale fit-outs to custom, high-end furniture and bespoke cabinetry. Our turnkey solutions cover everything from structural builds to finely detailed finishing work, allowing us to manage and execute projects from concept to completion with precision and care.
Our reach is global. We proudly export furniture and shopfitting components across South Africa, Africa, and internationally — including destinations such as the Middle East, Pakistan, USA, China, Japan, and Europe.

Conceptualised and owned by our founder, James Louw, this project allowed us to push the boundaries of what we do best: bespoke, high-end joinery and shopfitting. Every element of The Sorrows was handcrafted by our team, with no nails or screws — just traditional joinery techniques and world-class attention to detail.
The result is a stunning space defined by light French oak, white marble, Roman columns, pressed ceilings, and a meticulously built back bar that took six weeks to complete. It’s more than just a bar — it’s a working showcase of our capabilities, values, and the standard we set for every project.
With a full team of trusted artisans, designers, and technicians, and decades of experience in hospitality and retail fit-outs, JL Joiners continues to shape iconic spaces like The Sorrows — spaces where people connect, feel inspired, and appreciate the craft behind the scenes.
